Jammu, Nov 06 (KNO): Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jammu office once again echoed with a massive protest by its leaders, who assembled to denounce the resolution passed in the assembly on the restoration of J&K's special status. Led by BJP’s J&K unit President, Sat Sharma, a large number of workers assembled at the party office in Trikuta Nagar and raised slogans against National Conference (NC) and Congress government for bringing what they said was an “anti-India resolution.’ As per the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), the protesters also torched the effigy of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and his Deputy Surinder Kumar Choudhary as well as the NC’s flag. Earlier, Deputy Chief Minister and MLA Nowshera Surinder Kumar Choudhary seconded by Health Minister Sakina Itoo passed the resolution in the assembly, which was followed by uproar by BJP legislators in the house. BJP alleged that NC is befooling the people of Jammu and Kashmir by digging a grave of Article 370, which is never going to return. Speaking to the media, Sat Sharma said that NC-Congress has a history of befooling the people. He said BJP will not allow any such moves and keep protesting against the nefarious design of two parties in the house as well as on streets. BJP also termed Article 370 resolution passed in J&K Assembly as 'anti-national and Pakistani agenda' Calling Choudhary as "Jammu’s Jaichand", Sharma said that he had taken votes to safeguard the interests of Jammu but now is trying to disturb the environment here by moving the resolution. He said the National Conference is fully aware that Article 370 cannot be restored as long as Narendra Modi is the Prime Minister and Amit Shah is Home Minister, even if they pass thousands of such resolutions. “This is nothing but an attempt to disturb the peaceful situation. Similar attempts were made by the National Conference when we were in power,” said Sharma, a former minister in the PDP-BJP coalition government. Former J&K BJP President Ravinder Raina, who was also present on the occasion, slammed the National Conference and its coalition partner Congress and said “by bringing the resolution, they have betrayed the nation.” “Article 370 gave birth to separatism and terrorism in J&K and was buried by the BJP-led central government to restore peace in the region. We know such resolutions will not help in the restoration of the revoked constitutional provision,” he said—(KNO)
